Mombassa Hotel Workers' Appeal

Karl and I are deeply touched by the plight of many in Kenya, whose lives have been severely disrupted since the elections; a trail of destruction has been left in its wake, for many.

One particular cause made know to us by those we met on holiday last October, is the hotel staff of the Mombasa resorts; the tourists have cancelled their holidays, understandably, and so they have closed the hotels for two months and sent the staff away, with no severance pay. A lot of the workers are from the North of Kenya who have left their families and homes to find work in the south. Many of them do not even have the means to return home. A dear woman named Annell is now living in a church building with other members of staff, as the only means of survival.

We would like to launch an appeal to send money to individuals whom we feel we can trust to share this with others, just to tide them over these few months and at least give them the means for basic survival.

It is for certain that you cannot help everyone but we would be grateful if you can help in any small way, even by just raising awareness, so we can aid a few, as we are not able to make much difference on our own.
