An Awesome God
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not upon your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3: 5 & 6)
In his book “God’s Smuggler”, Brother Andrew describes an incident which one can only call miraculous.
Several decades ago whilst smuggling Bibles in his VW Beetle car through the borders of various Eastern European borders, Brother Andrew found himself in a queue of motorists held up at a checkpoint supervised by armed guards. Each motorist was obliged to get out of his or her car while it was carefully searched. Brother Andrew knew that even a superficial inspection of his car would reveal the dozens of Bibles he had hidden and so he prayed that somehow God would enable to get through this seemingly “closed door” into the country where Bibles were so desperately needed.
Then, displaying complete faith in God, he took the Bibles from their hiding place and placed them in full view on the passenger seat. As he did so, the driver of the car in front was undergoing the most stringent of inspections even to the extent of having the wheel trims removed from his car.
When it was his turn he was beckoned to advance. Brother Andrew inched his car slowly forward and prepared to get out. As he did so he was aware that the armed guard had his knee firmly planted against his door preventing it from being opened. The guard peered through the window and waved Brother Andrew through the checkpoint without a word. Hardly able to believe what was happening he crept forward expecting at any moment to be called back. As he gained speed he saw in his driving mirror that the driver behind him was already standing by his car with its’ contents being removed onto the road. He had passed through the checkpoint in less than 30 seconds! God had “opened the door” for him.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father I know that you can open and close doors. Today I will have many decisions to make – large and small. Please go before me and show me clearly the way in which I should go, opening only those doors through which I should go.
