Princess Royal to visit Yarmouth

The Princess Royal is to visit Yarmouth on June 9 to help the town celebrate its 800th anniversary of PrincessRoyalbeing made a free borough.

Princess Anne will unveil a plaque at St Nicholas' Church to mark the granting of the King John charter which enabled the town to start charging fees for its market and led to its economic growth.

After a service in the church she will then visit the town hall.

Before the royal visit there will be a three days of charter celebrations in the market place, with street entertainers, children's games and market traders dressed up in medieval costumes.

The time of the Princess Royal's visit will be confirmed at a later date.
