Norwich church's mission to South Africa
Norwich Central Baptist Church is sending a team of nine volunteers to South Africa with BMS World Mission this summer. The team will fly to Johannesburg in August to work alongside the Baptist Convention of South Africa. The team will be linked with a church community in South Africa and working with HIV/AIDS orphans.
The team is a diverse group of different ages and backgrounds and hopes to be able to use their skills in South Africa to make a difference to children living in the shadow of HIV/AIDS who have suffered the loss of one or both parents.
They are raising funds for the trip through events including a quiz night and an Auction of Promises where church members at NCBC will offer their time and skills, such as an evening babysitting, a few hours gardening or cooking meals. The congregation will “bid” for these offers at auction.
Jo Westwood, who is organising the trip said, “The whole church is really excited about the mission. It is wonderful that we can link with the Baptist church in South Africa because of our shared faith in Jesus.”
The quiz and puddings evening takes place at NCBC on Duke Street, Norwich on Saturday 10th May at 7pm. Everyone is invited and tickets cost £5 and can be bought on the door. Tel 01603 670497 or email office@norwichcentral.org for details. Pictured above are some of the team from NCBC. Now we would appreciate plenty of prayer support while making final preparations and while away in South Africa!
