New Opportunity for Counselling Training
An exciting new opportunity for Christians to enhance their listening and counselling skills is being launched in January 2009 in Norwich. The course is being organised by Margaret Bazely, a senior accredited trainer, who provides training across the UK
“I grew up in Gorleston,” says Margaret “and have wanted to use my skills for the good of the local churches since returning to Norfolk a few years ago”
The AQA intermediate counselling skills certificate course will be the core of the training. This has been taught to students in the Church Army College of Evangelism in Sheffield for several years, but this time Margaret and her colleagues, Ruth Dormandy and Bill Bazely, will be helping course members to deepen their own spiritual life alongside learning new skills for the pastoral and spiritual care of others
Using the Marriott training centre in Norwich and the Quiet Waters Retreat Centre near Bungay will enable an innovative approach to gaining a recognised qualification in counselling skills in combination with personal spiritual development. The course, run together with the Chaplaincy department of the Norfolk & Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, will also pioneer a training partnership between the Churches and the NHS in this region
Further details of the course, which includes a free Introductory Taster Session on October 11th 2008, can be obtained by calling Bill Bazely on 01603 421203 or e-mailing him, billbazely@aol.com
