Christians meet to celebrate Pentecost
By Yvonne Hill
People from the Gorleston and Bradwell churches gathered together on Sunday 31 st May at St Andrews C hurch to celebrate the manifestation of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. It was a day of joyful praise, song and prayer and a time to fellowship with one another.
The church was decorated by the children under the guidance of the Revd Linda Ricketts. There were flames on the pillars, balloons and streamers to represent the Holy Spirit.
Mike Simms gave an inspiring talk pointing out that we all need to have the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Revd Linda Ricketts, who is the new Chairman for Churches Together in Gorleston, spoke of an amazing God. Revd Ward invited people to come forward to pray for Linda as she takes up her new responsibilities.
R evd Peter Paine gave a power point presentation showing some of the churches, businesses, schools, police stat ions, hospitals and medical centres for the congregation to pray for.
The service was brought to a close with an invite for people to be prayed over by the Churches Together prayer team.
Afterwards everyone gathered on the green at the side of the church to enjoy a picnic and meet up with friends. There was face painting and a bouncy castle for the children.
It was a very enjoyable and happ y day for everyone.
