Stab victim on road to recovery

The family and friends of Simon Somerville are grateful for the prayers of the extended church family that have come in from all over the world.
STAB VICTIM ON ROAD TO RECOVERY

As reported in a BUC News Flash (30 October 2009), Simon was stabbed while endeavouring to protect his youth group from a gang outside the Albany Theatre, Deptford in South East London on Wednesday, 28 October.  It was at the end of a three day seminar designed to help young people deal with the negative aspects of youth and street culture and make positive decisions about their future.  In response to the overwhelming support received from church members and the larger Christian community, Pastor Eddie Hypolite, Teen Ministries director for the South England Conference states, "It is encouraging to know that the people of God everywhere and in every community are lifting prayers toward heaven on Simon's behalf.  God is healing him bit by bit and day by day, and so we continue to trust and see God work."

As of Thursday, 5 November, Simon's condition remains serious but comfortable.  Eddie states that "He is now on the slow but sure road to recovery and the doctors are happy with his progress."
Eddie is Simon's brother-in-law and, as Teens Ministries director he has worked tirelessly to motivate teens towards better lifestyles.  Thus it hit him hard when the story of knife crime came so close to his home.  Eddie asked to give 'a word to the saints'.  "The things we do that make a difference to people's lives are God things.  Regardless of how difficult the evil one may make it, there is no wisdom, counsel or understanding that can stand against God's will.  So keep on doing your God things."
