Great Yarmouth Churches Prayer for Revival

Last Monday (24th February) churches in Great Yarmouth met together to pray for Revival. This meeting was planned to coincide with the churches in Norwich coming together to pray for Revival in the city. Although the decision to have a combined churches prayer meeting in Great Yarmouth was only made 4 days before and the notice put out on a Network Yarmouth newsflash, some 60 people from 7 different churches attended the meeting which was held at Park Baptist Church

These meetings were the first of a series of prayer meetings we intend to have to pray for Revival in both Norwich and Great Yarmouth. They were initiated because of a prophetic word which was given in Mobile Alabama where a revival is taking place. The prophecy stated that 'there would be a city wide revival in Norwich in the UK'

D Weeks photoUnknown to Nathan Morris (the evangelist God is using in Alabama and who brought the prophecy) was the fact that Dave Weeks, pastor of the City Church Great Yarmouth congregation, happened to be in the meeting. What is all the more remarkable is the fact that a few moments later, Nathan Morris approached Dave and called him out to pray for him, not knowing who he was or where he was from, and this in a congregation of about 1500 people! You can watch it all on a video if you go to www.citychurch.co.uk

The meeting in Great Yarmouth began by showing the video from Alabama which included the prophecy and all associated with it. This was followed by Dave Weeks reading some accounts of past revivals, including the last recorded Revival in England which just happened to be in Great Yarmouth in 1921! A 15min video of Nathan Morris preaching about our need for the Holy Spirit and Revival ended that part of the meeting, and inspired by all that had gone on before, the prayer time itself began

The prayer time began by all crying out to God in unison, that He would send Revival to Great Yarmouth. This was followed by individuals praying out one at a time, again for revival in our time.  The people were then encouraged to link up with someone from a different church and to pray for God's blessing and revival on each other’s churches. This was then repeated by individuals doing the same with someone else from a different church. We spent some time praying for the young people in our churches and town and for revival in our schools

It was agreed that revival should start with us and a time of quiet reflection followed as people were encouraged to ask God if there were things in their lives which would hinder this. A time of prayer was then given for people to pray to God for Him to touch them in personal revival, along with praying to commit ourselves to a continuous seeking after Him for revival in our town. It was during this time that the Holy Spirit began to touch individuals, and the evening concluded with a number of people being prayed for God to move in their lives

It was a great evening where the presence of God was very powerful. There was a real hunger in people’s hearts for revival and more of God in their lives and we should be very excited about what God is going to do in Great Yarmouth
