The Churches come to the Gorleston Crematorium on Mother’s Day

On MoTHE CREM014webther’s Day, 4th April, BWCF came to the Gorleston Crematorium for the third year. A portable café was placed at the entrance providing hot and cold drinks for people coming to lay flowers on their mothers’ and loved ones graves. Once again it was a great success and everyone really appreciated the gesture.

The huge yellow banner was placed at the entrance with the BWCF logo and colours which not only looked good, but also provided shelter from the elements. The weather this year was gorgeous with very little wind which helped to make the day a success.

One man came up to where the drinks were being serTHE CREM 016webved and said that he would come back for a drink after he shed a few tears and put some flowers on to his loved one’s grave. It is people like this who really need support and comfort and the volunteers and the clergy are only too happy to help them

Members of the clergy walked around offering comfort and solace to those who needed it.  The Chapel Service was attended by approximately 35 people some from as far away as Australia. People took the opportunity to speak with the Clergy at the chapel to shed tears and listen to words of comfort.

Rev Peter Paine said “the wonder weather brought out many more people, and this was a case of taking church to the people”.

We wish to thank staff at the Crematorium for their help in making the day run so smoothly, and to all the volunteers for their help.
