Another great evening of Prayer for Revival for Gt Yarmouth

Monday 9th May saw people from 11 different churches coming together for our latest 'Prayer for Revival' meeting in Great Yarmouth. Again we met at Park Baptist Church

After some initial technical problems the evening started with a time of praise and worship. This was followed by a moving and faith building video describing what happened during the Hebridean Revivals in 1939 and 1949. With our hearts touched and encouraged we then spent some time praying generally for revival

Dave Weeks (pastor of City Church Great Yarmouth) then shared a word he felt God had put on his heart. Speaking from Isaiah 6:5 For I am a man of unclean lips, and live among a people of unclean lips...he shared how historically, as the influence of the church declines, so does the moral and political state of the nation. Before we can pray for our Borough, we need to acknowledge our own failings as the Church. We can look at society and complain how ungodly it has become, but as the Church we must take some responsibility for that. We have not been the salt and light Jesus calls us to be, hence the spiritual and moral decline we see all around us. Having shared that, we then spent some time in silent, and then with individuals praying out, confessing these things before God, asking His forgiveness for our failures, recommitting ourselves to Him, and asking for Him to revive us to be the Church He wants us to be

Having done this, we then spent some time praying for our Borough and region, that God would have mercy and move upon the unsaved in revival

Matt Gooch (Unite) then followed, sharing some of the things God was doing among the young people in our Borough. We then broke into small groups, each one praying for a particular High School in the Borough, especially that revival would take place in our schools

Matt followed this with a very powerful video of a mime showing the pressures and temptations young people have to endure from those around them. After that, the young people present, along with those involved with working with young people were invited to the front of the church, and each one was prayed for

While we were praying for revival in Great Yarmouth, the 'Prayer for Revival' in Norwich reached new heights, with over 400 people attending. This was due, of course, to the fact that Cindy Jacobs was going to share at that meeting. At some point in the evening she prophecied 'Region-wide Revival', not just Norwich. We, of course, believed that anyway, but it is always good to be encouraged! We have asked for the details of all she said in Norwich, and when we receive it we will post any relative details that apply to us directly, here in Great Yarmouth

Apart from Norwich and Great Yarmouth holding 'Prayer for Revival' meetings, Carleton Rode Baptist Church and Fountain of Life C of E are now holding 'Prayer for Revival' parallel meetings. Other churches across the region are also planning to do the same in their areas. There is a definite momentum picking up across the region as faith and expectancy continues to rise in the belief that God is going to do something great in East Anglia

The next 'Prayer for Revival' meeting is Monday July 4th, again at Park Baptist Church. Put the date in your diaries now, and encourage as many as you can to come along

Remember, we are expecting God to do GREAT things for GREAT Yarmouth

Future 'Prayer for Revival' dates are:  Mondays – July 4th; Sept 12th; Oct 10th; Nov 7th
