Another great evening of Prayer for Revival for Great Yarmouth
Monday 4th July again saw a good number of people from various churches coming together at Park Baptist Church to pray for revival in the Borough of Great Yarmouth
Following a great time of worship Dave Weeks (Pastor of City Church Great Yarmouth) opened the prayer time by sharing from 2 Kings 7: 9 This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. He shared that there are many motives for us desiring revival, not least that many unsaved people are swept into the Kingdom. Just how much we want revival is reflected by how much we want to see people becoming Christians, and this, in turn, is reflected by how much we share our faith with others now. He then showed a short DVD of a vision that William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, had had, concerning the perishing of the lost. Some time was then spent by quiet reflection as we repented of our lack of our concern for, and witness to the lost. Time was then spent asking God to give us a heart for the lost. We then prayed for each other, that we would be used of God to witness. Following this, we all cried out to God in unison that He would indeed send Revival and bring many people into the Kingdom
Mary Ives then shared concerning the amazing work that has been going on within the YMCA in Great Yarmouth. She has been offered the 'Two Bears' for the next 10 years to be used as a centre to reach out to the young people of the Borough. She is now seeking to find the money to set it up and refurbish it. Some 80 or so young people are connected to the YMCA in one way or another, nearly all of whom are unchurched. If ever there was a need of revival, it is among that group of young people. We then spent some time praying for Mary and the work of the YMCA
Al Jeavons (Pastor of New Wine Church, Martham) then shared some aspects for prayer. Acknowledging we can be very cynical at times when it comes to believing for a move of God, and how we could be in danger of not liking what God may do among us, because He may do things differently from how we think He should do things, we were encouraged to search our hearts and to say to God that we are happy for Him to do whatever he wants to do, in any way he wants to do it! Allan also reiterated the fact that, for too long, the church has kept itself to itself, and we need to break out from within our four walls and reach out into the community
The recurring theme throughout the evening was that God was in the process of preparing us for what He is going to do among us. Part of that process was to examine our hearts in the area of reaching out. If we are serious about reaching out it will not only please Him, but fuel our prayers for Him to move among us in Revival
Dave Weeks made an appeal for us to 'offer ourselves as living sacrifices' (Rom 12:1). That we make a commitment to pray for revival, to reach out to the lost, and to live holy lives. Many came forward to make that commitment and some received prayer
Please continue to pray for revival in our Borough
Next Prayer for Revival meeting is Monday 12th September at 7.30pm at Park Baptist Church
