For Zion’s sake I will not hold my peace
by Peter Gray-Read
I am sure we all have a number of Bible passages that are firm favourites. Perhaps it is Romans 8, or Psalm 23 or 91 or 27 or Isaiah 53, 55 or 61 or John 1. We must not forget that all these scriptures indeed all the 66 books come to us through the Jews. Some may suggest that Luke was a gentile, but he was a doctor… lived in Israel and a close follower of Jesus…
Paul says …I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16
Much of the scripture and prophetic writing comes to us through the suffering and heartache of prophets from humble shepherds to kings. It is a fruit of experience gained from falling, and the grace of God in restoring. It is a cry, a song, a rejoicing, repentance, hope and near despair… as evidenced by Jeremiah
This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope
It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:21ff
As a reading of Romans 9-11 makes very clear God has not rejected Israel. And in fact the restoring of Israel will be a spring of great blessing to the world. This restoration will be soon – when the fullness of the gentiles comes in
A blindness in part has come upon Israel – for our sakes – but that does not mean that we, the Church should also be blind to them. So it always grieves me – and I am sure the Holy Spirit when the Church does not give the first place to praying and interceding for Israel. We have been grafted in – they support us, they received the oracles of God. We have learnt so much from their walk – yet that is not copyright as so much of Christian writing is. It is open for us all to see and learn from
Yes I believe that revival is coming, and the Lord has used me prophetically as well. But what will follow? It is a pattern I have noticed that God often revives a country prior to its judgement. The UK is ripe for judgement. But God is gracious and is allowing a possibly last chance for us to repent before judgement is released as it will be on all those nations who are coming against Israel because they are too scared to stand up to Islam, but would rather allow ‘my land’ to be divided Joel 3:2.
It is good to position ourselves for revival – one of the best ways is to give priority to what God gives priority to – namely his chosen people, and be watchmen
Isaiah 62:6 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence
And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the Earth
For Zion’s sake I will not hold my peace… Isaiah 62:1
