Christian Aid has local connections
Christian Aid is the international development agency of around 40 denominations in the UK and Ireland. It has a local office in the centre of Norwich, staffed by three people.
What we do
Working with partner organisations in over 50 countries Christian Aid
- Buys goats, seeds, fishing nets and beehives, builds wells and health centres to promote long-term development
- Provides food, water and shelter in emergencies such as earthquakes, floods and famines
- Campaigns to reform international financial organisations and to tackle the root causes of poverty
Why we do it
We exist to change hearts in the rich world and change lives in the poor world. We help churches to pray, act and give to reduce poverty in some of the most deprived areas of the world.
Who we are
Christian Aid has a local office in the centre of Norwich. You are welcome to visit us at the United Reformed Church, by coming in the entrance off Princes Street marked “church rooms”.
We have three local staff:
Eldred Willey (ewilley@christian-aid.org), pictured top right, who co-ordinates the work of churches and volunteers across Norfolk and Suffolk
Jenny Skivington (jskivington@christian-aid.org), middle right, who focuses on young people, and works with evangelical, Pentecostal and charismatic churches
Who do we work with?
We work closely with Transforming Norwich, and put on events with our sister agencies Tearfund and Cafod. We try to provide a space in which people can explore how God calls us to live in an unjust world.
How you can help us?
Most of Christian Aid’s work is done by volunteers, and we always appreciate offers of help, especially with the annual collection in the second week of May, and with office work.
