Appeal to give away 7000 Biker's Bibles
The Christian Motorcyclists Association is planning to produce 7,000 copies of a new Biker’s Bible to hand out to the motorcycle community. It has launched an appeal led by Norfolk-based Ken Hardy.
Ken, who is the secretary of the Norfolk branch of the CMA and editor of its Chainlink magazine, said: “We are going to order 7,000 bibles from the Bible Society. We have some cash already, but we need to raise more as we do it in faith. We will give the Bibles to those who ask, mainly aimed at bikers, but not exclusively, as we, like all Christians, aim our ministry at those who do not know Jesus.”
The Biker’s Bible, is a New Testament in the Contemporary English version, with a help section and testimonies of CMA members. The new 2007 edition will be in a smaller format and more practical with numerous testimonies included. It is already being used in various European CMA countries to great success
Mike Fitton, UK President of the CMA, said: “We are asking for help in a very practical way to be more effective in reaching the UK Biker community and their families with the Gospel.
“We are currently running a project over the next few months handing out leaflets to bikers letting them know that a Bible is available for them free of charge. I am asking if individuals and churches would sponsor the production of the Biker’s Bible at a cost of £3 each, less than the cost of the average MacDonald's meal. Every penny given will be spent on placing the Manual for Life in the hands of bikers.”
