Call to prayer for Norfolk Christian Projects
By Gail Halley
2007 is the year of prayer and preparation for Hope 2008, so let’s pray that momentum for this great opportunity will build up throughout 2007 and that God will prepare His people in whatever way He needs to, and that we will be ready and willing to cooperate in His plans.
Living Water
By now the news will probably have reached everyone that Living Water has come to an end. Call to Prayer was birthed out of Living Water, and we would like to express our grateful thanks for all the support they have given us. As the business of winding up LW gets under way, please pray for the trustees, especially the chairman, David Gardener, and for Heather Nunn who has spared no effort in organizing the event so well for the past few years.
And let us all be open to what God will bring forth from this good seed which has blessed the region, and all of us, so greatly.
Call to Prayer – the Future …
Living Water has up to now generously supported Call to Prayer, but from now on (Jan 2007) we will be ‘standing on our own feet’ and looking for alternative means of support. One possibility would be for 50 people to pledge £10 as a one-off gift to cover 2007. If, however, you feel led to give either more or less, we’d be delighted to hear from you. Anyone who would like to be part of this, and contribute to keeping Call to Prayer going, please contact Gail Halley on hailgail@supanet.com or tel: 01603 617598.
First Friday – the Future …
Some of the region’s First Fridays have struggled a little to keep the momentum going in 2006, which led to a question mark over their future. However, at Trumpet Call in Birmingham on 21 October it became clear that First Friday Call to Prayer had a significant role to play in 2007, the year of prayer and preparation for Hope 2008.
With this in mind, we believe the way forward is more of the same, but with some differences. We believe there should be an opportunity to pray every Friday; also that there should be an element of teaching at each meeting.
So we are proposing that as the year goes on, we will meet to pray every Friday (7 30 – 9 30pm with a half-hour teaching slot); please join with us in praying for a minimum of eight churches in Norwich to host a meeting once every two months.
We are pursuing this now; anyone who would like to be involved, please contact Jill Gower on 01603 866212 or Gail Halley hailgail@supanet.com or 01603 617598.

Please pray for their new training course starting 3 February. At present, applications are coming in rather slowly. If anyone would like more information, please ring the office (01603 616580) on Mon, Wed or Fri and ask for Tish or Biddy. Biddy Collyer would like to thank everyone who has faithfully prayed for Pregnancy Crisis during 2006.
Prom Praise - St Andrew's Hall on Sat 10 March at 7.30 pm
Pray for a huge turnout from across the churches to hear the All Souls Orchestra – Speaker: Hugh Palmer. Tickets (from £5 to £12) from Cards 'n' Things on 01603 485832 or contact Jenny Osborne on 01603 867692 for more information.
Street Pastors
This new initiative to put teams of trained Christian people on Norwich's streets on Friday and Saturday nights is making good progress towards a launch in March. There is a need for more people to volunteer to be Street Pastors and a very big need for intercessors who will support the work in prayer.
If you would like to be part of this exciting venture, contact the Coordinator, Val Dodsworth on 01603 472753 or email v.dodsworth@ntlworld.com
Intercessors please contact Jill Gower on edenmin@tiscali.co.uk
For anyone interested in being an intercessor or a street pastor, there is a meeting at New Hope, Martineau Lane, on Wed 10 January at 7 30pm. Training will start on Sat 20 Jan.
