BOROUGH WIDE CHURCHES ON LINE
News from Yarmouth and Gorleston churches was given out at the October meeting of the Borough Wide Churches Forum at Magdalen Way Methodist Church in Gorleston.
EAST NORFOLK YOUTH FOR CHRIST
They are holding nine one-off events to build on what we have and a Christmas ball is hoped for.
LIGHT OF LIFE BAPTIST CHURCH, ORMESBY
They are holding discipleship groups with the purpose of being creative and fun.
NEWTOWN METHODIST CHURCH
They have reached their centenary. Holding coffee mornings on Wednesdays.
MAGDALEN WAY METHODIST CHURCH
They celebrate their 50th anniversary In March. Meet Fridays for coffee and prayer.
CITY CHURCH (GREAT YARMOUTH)
Reported they are still experiencing growth. Were asked to be coordinators for flood victims.
RELIGIOUS SOCIETY OF FRIENDS (QUAKERS)
They are involved with interfaith initiatives and practise ‘accept and celebrate’.
SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH
They are trying to plant a church in Thetford. Having regular Bible Studies.
PARK BAPTIST
They are operating a friendship centre opening every Tuesday at 9.30am to 12md and 7.30pm to 9pm. They’ve had a great response from non-churchgoers and many have joined the congregation.
INDUSTRIAL MISSION
‘Good Work’ being rolled out and there was a prayer meeting at the Town Hall on the Friday following the Open Forum meeting for discussion on when and how it will be implemented. Peter Paine has joined the Great Yarmouth Tourism committee.
PORT
Peter reported that work on the new harbour could start by next March and take around 15 months to complete. Work at present is going on sorting through the Memorandum of Understanding.
KING’S CHURCH
They are having in the region of 1,000 people coming through their building for room hire. This means that they are getting people who wouldn’t normally be in church in the building.
