New youth project aims to unite east coast
Unite is a brand new Youth for Christ centre for East Norfolk that will be launched on February 17 in Great Yarmouth.
YFC is a national evangelistic organisation with the objective of "taking good news relevantly to every young person in Britian". Unite has the same objective, we want to make sure that every young person in the East of Norfolk hears the Gospel and gets the opportunity to respond to it.
Unite is an ecumenical project and is therefore not "owned" by any one denomination or body, however the oversight group is formed by church leaders and members from a variety of church backgrounds.
Matt Gooch, Unite's co-ordinator, reports that work has been ongoing since October, where he has been to find out the current yout activities in the area, and secondly to arrange some youth events for young people. Matt has been so encouraged by getting to know many people and to realise that so many people have a passion for young people to come and understand that God really is interested in them. Also individual churches are really doing a great job.
Unite is all about encouraging partnership between churches along with offering expertise and drive to build on the work that is already happening with young people.
We believe that it is really possible for us all as one wider church to "Reach Every Young Person With The Gospel". We also believe Unite has a role to play in this but we need your help.
You can help UNITE in three key areas- In Prayer, Getting Involved and Financial support either as an individual or as a church.
Unite is going to be formally launched on the 17th February at Christchurch King Street Great Yarmouth, starting at 7.30pm If you would like to hear more about Unite or pledge your support this is your opportunity to do so. Richard Bromley, who is part of the British YFC leadership team will be speaking to us and some sung worship will be led by a local youth worship band.
