MATTHEW PRICE 04-2021

Reverend Matthew Price
Vicar, St Mary Magdalene Church, Gorleston

I am always amazed at the hidden talents amongst people I meet. So many people are able to make the most incredible works of art by knitting or embroidering or crocheting. It’s not something I have ever learnt to do, so I find myself in awe of the talent

But I am also struck that such pastimes can often be quite lonely. Hours spent with knitting needles or a crochet hook can often be alone

OPEN HOUSEWith that in mind, we have recently launched our weekly Open House morning at church, encouraging people to bring along craft projects that they might be working on, so that they can enjoy one-another’s company whilst they work

There’s a limitless supply of coffee and freshly baked treats to enjoy each week too. And everyone is really welcome! I don’t want to be unnecessarily stereotypical (male knitters are becoming increasingly common-place; perhaps inspired by the likes of Tom Daley), but we are also hoping to expand what we offer in the coming months to include a community shed, which will allow woodwork and other projects! Watch this space for more news of that

So, why don’t you come along and bring your latest project too. And, if you’re not a crafter, you’re also welcome. There’s also board games and adult colouring books or just plenty of people to chat to. I look forward to seeing you there

Open House takes place every Wednesday from 10am-12noon at St Mary Magdalene Church. For more details call the church office on 01493 655523
