YOUTH FOR CHRIST IS, 5...4...3...2...1...LAUNCH
That's what really happened as part of the launch of this brand new charity, the congregation blasted off into space. A group of local young people performed a drama that took everyone on a shuttle ride. This shuttle started to discover how both young people and the slightly older ones often feel like aliens to each other. The challenge was given to us all that we need to ensure that the gospel message is communicated to young people in a way that doesn't come across as an alien language.
East Norfolk Youth For Christ, is operating under the name of Unite, It's sole aim is to communicate the gospel to young people in a way that they can understand.
“Unite aims to recognise the strength of the church as a whole and looks to encourage, empower and innovate their mission to young people. When we look at our churches on their own we realize that we can only do so much, but together we are able to do so much more. We know as we look around the East of Norfolk, there is so much pain and anguish but equally there are so many young people desperate to make a difference to the world that they live in. Unite is committed to making the gospel known to these young people and to support them as they look to make a difference in their communities” Matt Gooch – Unite Co-ordinator.
Over one hundred and thirty people stood together in suppor t of Unite. Worship was led by a youth worship band formed just for the evening and a message was given by Richard Bromley, part of the National Youth For Christ leadership team. There was also a formal part of the evening when ENYFC was launched as a charity and as a chartered ministry of Youth For Christ. Craig Millward, chair of trustees for Unite was presented with a Certificate of Charter, (pictured) and all trustee's, volunteers and supporters were then commissioned into their role.
The evening enabled local Christians to stand together in support of Unite but it also gave them a chance to support in practical ways.
“We need a whole variety of helpers, from those happy to help with administration or with catering right through to youth workers and trustees. We also need prayer and financial support, please will you consider supporting Unite in this way” Matt
