ADRA-UK Supporters run, walk and climb

Every year more people take part in sporting activities to raise money to support the life-changing projects sponsored by ADRA-UK in this country and around the world. Walking, running and fun run largeclimbing, hundreds of people are finding ways to contribute. 2007 has been no exception and individuals and groups from different parts of the UK have joined in.
 
The Three Peaks Challenge, a weekend of climbing the highest mountains in England (Scaffel Pike, Lake District, 978m), Scotland (Ben Nevis, Fort William, Highlands, 1,344m) and Wales (Snowdon, Llanberis, 1,085m) in less than 24 hours has seen participants from the Newbold College community, doing their best to raise money in support of ADRA-UK. The team completed the challenge in 22 hours and 22 minutes, receiving bronze medals for their achievement.
 
A group of ADRA-UK's supporters in Scotland took part in the Great Scottish Walk on 10 June 2007. The 6 and 12 mile walk, which is organised annually to assist charities in raising money and awareness for their causes, started in Holyrood Park, through Edinburgh and finished at the Meadowbank Stadium. Sporting ADRA-UK's "End Poverty Now" T-shirts, the participants received a medal and certificate upon completion and raised £3,000 in sponsorship towards ADRA's Annual Appeal.
 
Earlier in April, Nigel Clark, a keen supporter of ADRA-UK, joined 3,200 runners in the Stratford-upon-Avon Marathon and raised £670. Nigel reached the finish line in 3 hours 51 minutes. He said, "the race was a great day with perfect weather conditions." He added, "In addition to the money which I have already raised, I have also applied for a donation from my employers through their charity policy". Nigel was sponsored by his work colleagues, his church, the GLOBAL INTERNETLeamington Spa Mission, and members from his running club.
