Lowestoft author Chrissie is one in a million
Chrissie Daplyn has been a Christian since the age of twelve, but she could never have imagined how much Brian and herself would have to put their faith into action and rely on God for help and support.
She was diagnosed with a rare disease of the abdominal cavity called Pseudomyxoma Peritonei, an illness that would usually prove to be fatal. Her faith and beliefs played a very important role in allowing her to come to terms with her ailment. ‘We had to believe in God for a miracle and at the same time ascertain if there was any research being done that would afford me some medical help.’
One in a Million is a true-life story portraying Chrissie Daplyn’s experiences from the time when she first found out about her illness to her first experience at the gym, an activity advised by her surgeon. Each tale is told with great honesty and her descriptions of the tough times combined with her humour and joy for life are both entertaining and interesting.
This is an enjoyable, inspirational and heart-warming story that will encourage many Christians to maintain their faith even when times are hard. The clarity of Chrissie’s descriptions make the situations understandable, offering comfort and hope to anyone reading it. The support and encouragement received through God, family and friends suggest that there is nothing that cannot be overcome.
‘My prayer is that I will never take for granted the joy of life, the smell and sight of Spring flowers, the simple joy of walking out with Brian, and being able to do my grocery shopping.’
