A time for change

Saturday 27th October 2007 is the 40th anniversary of the 1967 Abortion Act which legalised the killiltimeforchangelogong of the unborn.

Time for change brings together churches, professional bodies and pro-life organisations to mark this anniversary.

We want thousands of Christians to join with us as we remember the 6.7 million unborn children who have been killed and the many thousands of others, especially women, who have been adversely affected by this law.

Please alert your church and encourage them to come to the events taking place in London.
There will be a rally in Old Palace Yard outside Parliament on Saturday 27th October followed by a march to Westminster Cathedral. There will be services of remembrance, healing and hope at Westminster Cathedral and at Westminster Chapel. Other events around the country will be advertised on the timeforchange website: www.timeforchange.org.uk.

The Human Tissue and Embryos Bill, expected to be introduced into Parliament after the Queen's Speech on 6th November, will open up the entire 1967 Abortion Act for amendment. Pro-choice MPs have pledged to liberalise the law and intend to mark the anniversary of the 1967 Abortion Act with a push to bring in 'abortion on request' in the first three months of pregnancy.

The first stage of this battle is a government consultation into scientific developments since the Abortion Act. This is being carried out by the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee, The closing date for written submissions was Monday, 3rd September 2007 and oral evidence sessions will commence in October.
