Ambassadors

Dove rightOne day a God serving father and his two sons went to play mini golf.  As they approached the front desk to pay, there stood a large sign that read ‘Children under six go free, all other players £5’. The cashier, seeing the father and his sons and presuming that the younger boy was under the age of six, proceeded to ask for only £10 admittance fee. The father immediately corrected the cashier and said the bill should be £15 as both his sons were older than six years of age. The younger son had only just turned six “Wow!” the cashier said “You could have kept quiet and saved yourself £5; no-one would ever have known!” “No!” the father gently replied, “My boys would have known!”

As you were reading the conclusion of this little analogy, you may have thought that the most logical reply of the father would have been, “No, God would have known!” and used the opportunity in helping the young cashier into thoughts of honesty and that there are consequences for being dishonest – even when you think no one knows!

Yes this is true, God would have known! God knows everything! He is the Almighty Creator; we read in Psalm’s 44:21 “God would surely have known it, for he knows the secrets of every heart”

dove leftPlease allow me at this point to encourage everyone that never an opportunity to stand for honesty should be missed; however great or small. The very introduction of sin into the world was based upon a lie. Christians, who are ambassadors for Christ, should uphold honesty and integrity to the highest standard possible

The Apostle Paul said in his second letter to Corinthians 5:20, “So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”” What a privilege it is to bear the title ‘Christian’

In my little analogy the father knew, that as his sons were growing up, his conduct in life would reflect upon them, and in later years be a model template for their own moral integrity! As a God serving man, his aim was to reflect the honest character of Christ to the cashier but his main aim was to uphold his responsibility as an ambassador of Christ to the ones who depend upon him. Remember as you live your life as an ambassador for Christ, your conduct is not only a living testimony of what Christ has done for you, but is also a visual invitation to other to accept Christ as their personal saviour!
