Arrangements for Sunday Services at St Andrew's Gorleston

Sunday Services in the church building will resume on Sunday 19th July 2020 with a service at 10am. This will also be live streamed via Zoom to enable those preferring not to come to the church building to take part

This pattern has been endorsed by the PCC and is set to continue until further notice. The Diocesan advice is to proceed slowly, steadily and safely and so this small initial step will hopefully set us on the way to a fuller reopening in the future

Please take time to read the following information:

  • Entering and leaving the church building

Entry into the church building at 9.50am will be through the main door on the north side (the car park side). Other open doors are for ventilation. Leaving the church building will be via the main Chapter House door. This arrangement allows for disabled access and the use of toilet facilities at the end of the service. The Chapter House itself will not be in use but can be entered as a route to access the disabled toilet

  • Face masks

Whilst the wearing of face masks in the church building is not mandatory there will be a designated area (the North Isle) for those who prefer, or need to wear a face mask, and want to be in an area with others who are also wearing face masks

  • Singing

A service may include music, hymns or songs but at present congregational singing is not allowed in church buildings. (Quietly humming or “singing in your heart” is a way to engage with those aspects of the service)

  • Giving

Any form of giving is most welcome. For those wanting to support the church financially a plate will be positioned for the collection of cash and envelops. In order to minimise the handling of cash we are in the process of installing a credit/debit card reader in the church building. Donations to St Andrew’s can also be made online using the St Andrew’s church website or the Diocesan website which has a facility that allows you to donate to any church

  • General

A level of cleaning will be done in preparation for services in the church building and hand sanitizer will be available. Seating will be arranged to allow for social distancing

Track and Trace

In addition to the instructions above, a register will be kept of those attending church for the purposes of ‘Track and Trace’
