Find out how to “phone a friend” in Yarmouth

A new telephone befriending service has been launched nationally, and there is an on-line meeting in November to explore how this can work in the Great Yarmouth area

lonelinessThe scheme, called “Two’s Company” has been launched by Linking Lives UK, which exists to reduce social isolation and loneliness, with a particular focus on older people. They achieve this by working in partnership with churches and Christian organisations to set up befriending projects

This was originally based around face to face meetings, but in response to the Covid pandemic they have changed their approach to create this new telephone befriending service which provides churches with an opportunity to reach and support those who are particularly at risk during this time

Two’s Company can be set up quickly, easily, and safely and each project just requires a coordinator, freephone telephone number, and volunteers. Training is provided by video conference call to coordinators, and then cascaded to volunteers on a local level.
