News from the Mag April 2021

MATTHEW PRICE 04-2021Reverend Matthew Price
At last there appears to be a bit of hope in the air! The numbers of cases of COVID19 are falling on a daily basis, the proportion of people who have been vaccinated is rising equally quickly, and the government has announced its roadmap for unlocking society and returning to some kind of normality. What’s more, the days are drawing out, spring has arrived and colour from daffodils and tulips are brightening our gardens. There is a renewed hope in the air
This season is also a time of hope in the Christian calendar. Easter is all about the celebration of hope over despair, light over darkness, new life over death. That’s why the symbols of Easter are eggs – chocolate or otherwise – a sign of new life! And in many ways, it is just beginning to feel like our society is emerging into a kind of new, post-pandemic life. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing more friends and family as the restrictions ease
At St Mary Magdalene, in celebration of the hope that is at the heart of the Easter story, we are delighted to be hosting a Community Easter Trail this year. We hope it will be a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy together during the Easter holidays. There’s no charge, and if you would like to take part, you can collect a trail guide from the church between 9.30am and 11.30am on Monday 29th March. You will then have the next few days to complete the trail and find all the eggs which will be hidden around the Magdalen estate, before returning to collect a prize between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday 3rd April. There will be a chocolate egg for every completed trail!
We look forward to welcoming you on March 29th and wish you all a very Happy Easter!
