First seafarer visitor steps over the threshold

GYSC logoMonday 20th April 2015

Last night, the volunteers in the newly opened Seafarers Centre welcomed the first seafarer visitor through the doors.  He commented that it was great to see this facitlity return to Great Yarmouth after being missed for so many years

The Port Chaplain, Rev Peter Paine said “Without volunteers it cannot stay open. I need two people there at all times and ultimately aim to open from 10am to 10pm seven days a week and to do that we need a bank of 25 to 30 volunteers to keep it going"

Of course, as with any charitable organisation, the centre depends totally on voluntary contributions.  If you are inspired by this work and wish to be part of keeping it running, please contact the email address above to get details of how to set up a direct debit or make one-off donations
