What is faith?

Because I am a Christian, I will give the Bible’s definition found in the book of Hebrews chapter 11. “Faith is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead “

dove leftYou cannot get more positive than that. ‘Confident assurance’ and ‘certainty’ are pretty strong words. No room for doubt there. Another word for faith is believe

God is so confident about His goodness through what He accomplished on the cross with the death of Jesus His son, who paid the price of our sins, and thus made a way for us to become sons and daughters of God, that He tells us without any shadow of doubt, that if we believe Him, He will give us everything He has ever promised

Those promises include eternal life, His care and protection, His love, and His help. I can testify to His care of me and His help to me ever since I accepted him as my Lord and Saviour.   The bible also tells us that if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved, (Romans 10:9)

Dove rightIt is always a matter of faith.  God just asks us to believe Him, and believe in Him.   Hebrews chapter 11:3 continues “By faith – by believing God – we know that the world and the stars- in fact, all things- were made at God's command; and that they were made from nothing”.  Just think about that statement

God made the whole universe that we know – the vast expanses of space, the sun, the moon, the planets, and our earth with its oceans, mountains, everything- out of nothing.  Because He is the Creator of all things

Will you not put your trust in the God who made all things?

Will you not have faith in the God who loves you so much he came down to earth as a human being and died for you to prove to you just how much He loves you, and how far He would go to prove it?
