	What do we have?
When times aren’t always easy we have a gift that is given. We have over ½ million minutes given freely to us every year
Jesus is our example in how to live a life to the full. He wasn’t someone that escaped without difficulty. In the book of Matthew chapter 14 it describes the cruel death of a friend of his, his cousin John the Baptist. Jesus’s response was the need to be alone so he left where he was in a boat to a remote area to get away from people in order to grieve

He didn’t get a chance because so many people followed him on foot and they knew where he was going. So he gave up on that particular opportunity for some “me” time and ministered in healing and then multiplied food so that the crowd wasn’t hungry

Jesus had needs, and they weren’t always fully met but he knew how to use his life wisely. Probably Jesus’s 3 or 4 years of ministry are the best known story in all of history. Everyone has heard of the feeding of the 5,000, but not every is aware that he performed that miracle the same day he heard that his cousin had been executed. Actually he didn’t even perform the miracle just by himself, he used it as a teaching tool for his disciples to do the distribution
So just suppose he healed 100 people that day and those people all had a life-changing experience, that’s quite an impact that this day of Jesus had. Maybe some of them became members of the first church at Pentecost

Then if you think 24 hours- Jesus then spent some time in prayer, at this point probably expressing his grief at his friend’s death to God the Father. Then at 3 in the morning, Jesus walked across the lake and caught up with his disciples and calmed the storm that was threatening them and encouraged Peter to walk on water as well

OK so all of that appears to be so incredible as to be difficult to believe, but it is recorded by Matthew who was there, and if it wasn’t true all the other disciples and also Peter could have corrected it because they were also in the boat

Imagine the impact that that event had on Matthew and the other 11 men in the boat. Such an off the scale miracle, walking on water is not recorded anywhere else in the Bible. It would have raised their personal faith levels so that they might have dared to believe for things that they had never seen before

All this in one of Jesus’s days. What can we do with our days? Maybe the best thing is to use down-time wisely. The in-between times where we are waiting or have finished work and are resting. One good use of our time is to pray, that is to bring to God our needs, or difficulties, or thank God for the gift of each day or year
